(Disclaimer: While some of these essays have been compiled with the help of AI - which is an excellent tool available to us today for scouring all published material on the Internet - the most crucial aspect, as always has been to ask the right questions. Our overarching emphasis has been to research and highlight the intricate interconnections between Soil Health, Food Nutrition and eventually Human Health and how one leads to the other in a complex web of life. This happens to be the core essence of Permaculture. Please note that the majority of the references are from peer-reviewed scientific literature.)
Maximizing Growing Systems - a set of presentations
The Plant Health Pyramid by John Kempf
A complete guide to soil microbiology by the Canadian Permaculture Legacy. "This video represents years (literally) of reading books (including university textbooks), podcasts, research papers and digging that I have done. This isn't me talking here, this is me simply relaying the information I've learned in my own journey." My favourite single stop reference.
A classic 4 min video by Dan Kittredge, founder of BioNutrient beautifully explaining the protein synthesis in plants. "We need to grow tomatoes nutritious enough to be consumed by humans, not to be sold at the supermarket by weight..."
A University of Minnesota group of scientists ran a 6-year, 41-mix cover crop trial — and one 3-species combination outperformed every other mix by 210%. Here's the biology behind why it worked.
Solving the 10,000-Year-Old Problem of Agriculture: A (brilliant) Interview with Wes Jackson.
"I keep coming back to the 3.4-billion-year-old imperative. Before the fossil carbon era, we ran directly on sunlight with biological information for collection and dispersal. "

As part of our community outreach initiative, we author and publish web and mobile apps for various utility functions on the field. There are no costs associated with using these apps, and we encourage people to use them freely. We aim to keep improving both feature and functionality of these apps as well as adding region and area specific information to improve our data sets in order to make these apps more useful to our community.
(Note: For any questions, suggestions or support, esp to incorporate region specific data sets please feel free to contact us.)
Map and GPS based geofence polygon recorder: This mobile first app lets you capture a polygon boundary around any area by either marking successive points either while physically being present at the actual location or by marking the various points on a map displayed on the mobile/tablet/laptop screen. One can then save and download these geo polygons for later use in various projects. The app was built to support the tribal farmers to mark out lantana infestation around their farms adjoining the forests of Jharkhand!
Planting planner: While currently focussed on southern India, this app is a companion plant planning app. One can select a month and it prompts for a set of vegetables that can grow at that time in that region, and along with that gives a list of beneficial companion plants which can enhance the growth of the main crop as well as act as insect and pest repellents for the main crop.
Native 'weed' diagnostic and soil health indicator: Click/Upload a picture of a 'weed' (i.e. a plant growing natively) at your location, query an authoritative database like PlantNet and get a reading on the soil health and conditions at this point. Indicates the current soil pH, compaction level, Nitrogen and moisture level. It then recommends beneficial crops that mat help improve the soil condition at this place.
